'Spirits in the stock room'
This high street store is a popular and busy shop as on a day to day basis customers walk in and out of this shop's doors, but they probably wouldn't be so keen to enter the store after knowing that its upstairs stockroom is full of ghostly goings-on, a large number of the staff that work at the store feel very uncomfortable when going up to the stockroom alone as they feel like they are being watched by something.
The stock room is the only room in the store that is known to have so much ghostly activity, one member of staff who was in the stockroom alone one day something quite disturbing, the member of staff saw a dark apparition moving in the room, the figure soon disappeared. Unexplained sounds such as banging is heard, and a shuffling sound as if somebody is walking around is also heard in this room, objects and all kinds of items of stock seem to move around and then be found in totally different places ,nobody has any idea of who is haunting the store and so it remains a mystery.
The building as been Woolworths for over thirty five years, before it was Woolworths it was a provision dealers and was under the named Denis JN. Carver, before that in 1909 it was Phelps Fredk. W. M butchers, the premises were also car dealers in 1871, and the owner was Thomas Alson. The building has been used for many different kinds of trade and who knows what as gone on in this building but as they say looks can be very deceiving and in this store that is certainly the case.
