Dowsing Rods & Ley Lines
Dowsing Rods are frequently used on ghost hunts by most paranormal groups and investigators. The rods are straight and made of thick wire. The dowser walks around the alledged haunted building with a rod in each hand. The rods are used for many things, mainly to pick up a paranormal entity. The rods can also pinpoint any underground streams and also Ley Lines. Ley Lines are commonly known as a type of earth force, this strong earth force gives off Ley Line energy, it is known that properties built on Ley Lines have paranormal activity, one example of this is the well known haunted Borley Rectory. This building was built on Ley Lines.Flour Experiment
Flour experiments are quite common to do on a ghost hunt as its relativley simple to do this. Sprinkle flour in the area that most paranormal activity occurs, make sure that no one goes near this area. When returning to the area later that evening you may notice that a spirit has left an impression in the flour.Ouija Board
The Ouija board was first invented by an American named Elijah J Bond in 1892, the board got its name from the French word oui and the German board Ja, both of these words mean yes, the board is used to communicate with the dead, the spirit can use the Planchette or upturned glass to spell out words or give direct yes or no answers on the board. The board can be bought or can be home made by sticking letters of the alphabet around the table with the numbers 0-9 and with the words yes or no. Ouija boards are commonly used around the world today by all sorts of people, ghost hunters, skeptics and people who want to use the board for fun. I personally advise that people should not use an Ouija board for fun and that there should really be a medium present when using this board so some spiritual protection can be given. Ouija boards can be very powerful and the participants with a nervous disposition should not take part on the board as the experience in some cases can be quite traumatic, it is also advised that the participants on the board should not by any means ask the board any personal questions as they may not like the answers given, no one should belive what an Ouija board is saying.Seances
Seances were very popular in Victorian times and are still very useful for contacting spirit today, the word seance comes from the French. Seances are usually held in complete darkness or by soft candle light. The sitters sit in a circle around a table with their hands placed flat on the table with each little finger touching the next person, or alternativley people can stand in a circle holding hands, either way this circle creates collective energy and this is said to attract ghosts to the room, ghosts can use this energy to create paranormal energy. A participant then asks out for a spirit to come forward and make themself known, if a medium is present then the medium normally does this. Various things can happen when a seance is being held, knocks, bangs, voices, breezes etc. If a medium is present then the ghost can talk directly to the group by using the voice box of the medium, this is called physical mediumship.Glass Divination
Glass Divination is very similiar to the Ouija Board but there are no letters or numbers involved. The way a Glass Divination experiment can be conducted is simple.It is good to have at least four people sat around a smooth table, you can use an upturned tumbler glass, wine glass etc. All participants must put one finger on the glass and ask out to any spirits that are present in the room to move the glass.Various questions can be asked and in response to your question ask any spirits present to move the glass, you can also use objects as a 'yes' or a 'no', such as a beer mat for yes and a candle for no. When this investigation experiment is conducted there are normally great results.The idea behind it is the same as a Ouija board, spirits are using other people's energy to move the glass .
Mirror Scrying
This investigtaion experiment is a good one to do on investigations as everyone can have a go and those who are not can watch the person's face 'changing'. Scrying is an old magic practice that involves seeing spiritual faces and energy in a mirror, bowl of water, crystal ball etc. Mirror scrying is simple to do on investigations, one person needs to stand or sit facing the mirror in candlelight, if they ask out to any spirit energies it is believed that the person's face will change.
