It is a good idea to set up some trigger object experiments on an investigation, preferably in the most haunted room with a camcorder switched on recording. Many different objects can be used such has coins, keys, bible, wooden cross etc. Simpy draw around the object on a plain piece of white paper,leave the room and later return to see if they have been moved.Digital Camera/Disposable Camera
Digital camera's are good for taking plenty of pictures on a ghost hunt as they have a memory card and can be transfered to a computer quickly, however they are not good at all for collecting paranormal evidence. If a picture was taken with a digital camera and a ghost was captured on the photograph many critics would not consider this as paranormal evidence as there is no negatives, digital camera pictures of supposed ghosts can easily be faked by using programmes like Photoshop. A disposable camera is the best camera to use if your aim is to get valuable evidence to silence the skeptics.E.M.F (Electro Magnetic Field Detector)
This device is guaranteed to be in every ghost hunter's kit box, the E.M.F meter is known to pick up a paranormal presence, this is because ghosts either have high electromagnetic fields or they can interfere with the E.M.F and cause it to suddenly fluctuate. E.M.F meters are used to measure the levels of electromagnetic energy in the property, it also tells you what area the electromagnetic energy is found in. On a night of an investigation if the meter fluctuates in a spot where no E.M.F was earlier detected this could indicate a paranormal presence. Whilst using this piece of equipment always make sure that it is not near your mobile phone as this can cause fluctuations.E.V.P (Electronic Voice Phenomena)
E.V.P is an investigation technique that is used by a large amount of paranormal investigators, this can be set up on any paranormal investigation by using any sound recording device. E.V.P helps us detect more than we can with our own ears, E.V.P is a term that is used to define voice recordings that have been recorded at ELF (Extremely Low Frequency). The best way to do the E.V.P experiment is by setting up the sound recording device in the most known haunted area of the building and locking the room, if the room cannot be locked then it may be a good idea to keep the room guarded by using motion detectors. Other places where E.V.P could be set up can be in cold spot areas or where any unexplained E.M.F readings were detected, another way of using the E.V.P technique is by walking around the building whilst recording and asking out questions to any ghosts that may be present in the building. Motion Detectors Motion detectors can be a rather good piece of equipment to use on an investigation as it can have many uses. They can be set up in a haunted hot spot or guard a room where an experiment is taking place. Motion detectors have an infra red barrier beam and if anything crosses this beam then the alarm will sound.Digital Thermometers
These are by far the best type of thermometers to use on an investigation as they can easily monitor the temperature's in any enviroment. It is important to keep checking the temperature regulary on a ghost hunt as it is known that temperature's can suddenly drop when a ghost enters the enviroment or a ghost that is already present can make the temperature go very cold.Walkie Talkie's
Walkie Talkie's are invaluable on a ghost hunt, it is very important to be able to keep in contact with other team members. If footsteps, knocks or bangs etc are heard then you can easily check with other team members that no one was walking around in that area. They are also good to have because of health and safety reasons too,accidents can happen in the dark.Candles
Candles are really useful to have on an investigation as they can be used to detect paranormal breezes, candles are obviously dangerous and great care should be taken whilst using them. I find that tea light candles are the best for the investigations as they are safer and can be thrown away afterwards.Notepad & Pens
It is important to have notepads and pens on an investigation, this is so any paranormal activity, E.M.F readings,temperature drops etc can be quickly recorded, some investigation groups also use a laptop computer for this.Torches
It is vital to have good working torches in the dark so you can see where you and other team members are,it is also good to have plenty of spare batteries, batteries are known to unexpectdly drain for no apparant reason on ghost hunts, most believe that this is the work of ghosts.Baby Monitor's
Baby monitors are really good to use on a paranormal investigation.They can pick up sounds very clearly, even the quietest sounds can be heard . The monitor's can be switched on in a room of the haunted property and left.All the team/investigators can then leave the room and move to another area whilst listening to what is happening in the room that the monitor was left in.
Strobe Light
The strobe light can be a good handy piece of kit to use on an investigation. The basic idea is that when a strobe light is switched on anything that catches it light seems to move slower. When there are sightings of ghostly apparitions they seem to move quite fast, if a stobe light was switched on then the apparition would slow down.To do this you must also film with a nightvision camera.
