'Strange happenings in a City shop'
Located in the centre of Hereford's High Town this busy game store has many creepy goings- on. Strange paranormal events occur at the shop all the time, even in the daytime when there are customers present in the store. The happenings vary throughout the day and can happen at any particular time as on some occasions objects go missing in the shop and then can be found elsewhere, noises and loud footsteps are often heard coming from upstairs when nobody is present up there at the time. Many workers also claim that the cellar door always gets violently slammed shut on various occasions and one ex- manager saw something of the unknown upstairs, what he saw is unknown has he kept his experience to himself, the upstairs of the store is said to be where most of the ghostly phenomena takes place. One worker said of his weird experience and that happened when he opened the door to go upstairs, has he opened the door a small ball bearing came down the stairs and landed at his feet, nobody was upstairs at the time and no ball bearings were loose on the floor or even stored upstairs so this is a somewhat mystery.
This shop has quite a gory and secretive history, it is believed that a long time a go a man wanted to commit suicide and so he hung himself off one of the wooden beams upstairs and when the building was once an orphanage a little girl apparently died up there aswell, so with their two sudden deaths these could well be the ghosts that haunt the store. The building was once rumored to have been an orphanage, and then later on at some point it was turned into a shop; in 1909 the building was under Fleming, Reid & Co Ltd hoisers and has been different shops since.
The Body Shop building next to Game has no ghostly occurrences, but the staff do hear strange piano music coming from the back of the wall in the cellar which they cannot possibly explain, next to the Body Shop is haunted Past Times. It really is a surprise to find that this game store has many disturbances from ghosts as the stories here are unknown to the general public and again the shop has such a modern appearance to the passing visitor.
