The History
Credenhill social club is based at the far end of the village. The social club has only been around for about 40 years, the building was built on what used to originally a railway. The railway platform was discovered underneath the grass outside the social club when a children's play area was built. Also outside the social club is the old railway bridge, the bridge is post medieval which gives it a date of around 1540. Credenhill Railway Station opened on the 30th May 1863, the opening of this station caused a big celebration, nine carriages left the Moorfields Station decorated with pretty flowers and flags, the train's first stop was Credenhill . The railway station was sadly closed down on the 31st December 1962. Today there is hardly anything left of the station to say that it ever existed.
Why it was investigated
An investigation was carried by me and a small team at the social club after there was talk that the building was possibly haunted. The landlord experienced a number of strange things. One late evening the landlord locked up and whilst he was sorting things out behind the bar he saw a figure walking up to the toilet area, thinking he locked someone in he went to check and found that no one was actually there or in the building. On another occasion the landlord unplugged the fridge, when he went back to the fridge it was plugged in again, there was no one else present at the time to do this. Several checks and tests were carried out on the building on the morning of the investigation such as temperatures, E.M.F readings etc.
The Investigation
On the morning of the investigation me and my friend went to the social club to do a number of checks of the premises, a few strange things happened when we were there that morning. I took a photograph of a door behind the bar and a white streak appeared on the photo, I immediately took another photo and the white streak did not appear again, I also checked the area for things that could cause the white streak and nothing was there. After this the temperature dropped nearly a degree and there was a strange E.M.F fluctuation that could not at all be explained.
We decided to keep everything to ourselves about this as we did not want the other people attending the investigation to know what we experienced before the actual investigation took place. The first thing that was experienced on the night was when me and my group were sat in the Family Room/Bar, it was totally dark and everyone noticed an unusual ball of light outside by the fire door, checks were made but this could not be explained. After this happened two members of the group saw a figure at the same area as the light, we checked and nothing was there but countryside. The other group were in the Skittle Alley ,nothinh was experienced.
After this we all gathered into the family room to try and contact any spirits by using a glass, also known as Glass Divination, nothing was happening, we tried this technique a number of times through the night and each time nothing was happening. I set up some trigger objects in the Skittle Alley, one was a bible and another was a selection of coins. An E.V.P experiment was also set up in this room. No one went into this room for at least 30 minutes, when returning to the room we found that all the coins on the paper had moved. A member of the group moved them back into their original place and he actually witnessed the coins move in front of his eyes.
While I and my group were in the Skittle Alley the other group were doing a Scrying experiment in the hallway and it surprisingly started to produce some group results. One member of the team could see the face of a little boy in the mirror and when another team member was sat there an impressive light anomalie came from the mirror and also a sudden E.M.F reading, no reading was picked up in this area on the morning of the investigation. After this me and my group went outside under the old bridge and the other group went into the Skittle Alley and got back on the glass, after around 20 minutes the glass started to move, we even caught the glass jumping and twisting on camcorder. The spirit that came through was a six year old boy that died when he worked on the railway , through many questions that we asked we soon learned that there was many other spirits in the building.Other strange unexplainable occurrences happened on the night, an odd shape was seen outside and a 2 pence coin got dropped out of nowhere when a group were investigating the barrel room. Overall it was fantastic night and even some sceptics witnessed some paranormal activity.
